Window blinds add beauty to any home, and they add privacy as well. Blinds of all types need to be cleaned in order to keep them looking their best. But many homeowners find it difficult to clean window blinds. If you are one of those homeowners, you are in luck. Today we are going to learn several blind cleaning tips that will take the stress out of cleaning.
Six Window Blinds Cleaning Tips
Take fabric blinds to the cleaners:
If your fabric blinds become icky, take them down and bring them to the cleaners. This is a great way to preserve your blinds and keep them looking great for many years to come.
When you notice your blinds are starting to get dirty, spot clean them with some all-purpose cleaner. But remember to spray the cleaner on a clean cloth and never spray it directly on the blinds.
Vacuum to remove dust:
A great way to quickly dust your blind and leave no mess behind is to use the vacuum. Place the brush attachment on the end of the hose and carefully brush away the dust. Remember to always brush down your blind instead of up to protect the slats.
Clean wooden blinds by wetting them:
Unlike other types of blinds that don’t react well to water, wooden blinds can be cleaned by wetting them. Clean this type of blind in place and make sure to remove any leftover moisture with a dry cloth.
Put them in the tub:
A great way to clean vinyl blinds is to dip them in the tub. Fill your bathtub with warm soapy water and slowly lower the blinds inside. Move them up and down to remove dirt and remember to give them a good rinse when the bath time is over with.
Use a lamb’s wool duster:
Plastic dusters can cause scratches on some types of blinds. Instead, use a lamb’s wool duster which is much softer. Simply brush the duster between the slates to remove dust and light dirt buildup.
